We are so proud of all of our learners and their growth over this term!
We were lucky to share growth in learning though our recent learning conversations, reports and evidence’s of learning. Thank you to all families who made the time to connect with your child’s teacher, either by coming into the classroom, or via a phone call. If you did not get to make contact, please reach out throughout this week or the beginning of next term, it is not too late! Thank you to our wonderful teachers for the additional time and work you put into preparing for these important conversations.
Our Prep-Year 2 students have shown amazing growth through the water orientation program. This program was made possible through a Sporting Schools grant awarded to our school and staff who supported our learners in the pool. Thanks Mr Luttmer, Ms Crombie, Otto, Loretta, Chris, Harry and Johann who supported our students in the pool over the week.
Last week our students from Years 2-6 engaged in discussions and learning about Cyber Safety with Stu from Legal Aid. They learned 5 simple rules about being safe online.
1 Be Kind, take turns
2 At dinner time, no screens
3 Use it only in shared spaces
4 Ask before you use it
5 No taking screens to bed
With the holidays just around the corner it is a great to have some rules at home to ensure our kids are safe online and aren’t exposed to harmful and inappropriate content and activities. If you need some more information about healthy screen time, creating good habits and online safety some great websites are: raisingchildren.net.au or safety.gov.au
As this newsletter is sent out we are preparing for our last assembly for this term on Thursday afternoon. In this assembly all classes with be sharing some of their learning for NAIDOC week, as well as the presentation of certificates and attendance awards.
Have a safe holiday and we look forward to seeing you all back for term 3 on Monday the 22nd of July
Kind Regards,
Jaime Allen
Principal
This term in Kinder we have been learning about shapes and to finish up our inquiry we made shape robots. We each chose a recycled box shape and then covered them with paper mache, painted them and decorated them to look like robots using all the different shapes we've been learning about.
Miss Lilley
This term in Year 1/2 we have been learning to use descriptive language in our writing. We have been focussing on using adjectives to describe characters and places. We can't wait to share our creative writing with you in the future.

Levies 2024
A reminder that school levies are now overdue and payable at the school office. Flexible payment arrangements for families may be organised with the School Business Manager if required.
There will be no increase in Levies for 2024.
Kinder | $150.00 |
Prep - Grade 6 | $180.00 |
Levies can be paid using the following options:
- At the school (by EFTPOS, cash or cheque)
- At Service Tasmania (by EFTPOS, cash or cheque)
- Through BPAY (using the Biller Code and Reference on your invoice)
- By mail, forward your cheque, money order or credit card details to the school, with the payment slip from your invoice attached (payable to the Department for Education, Children & Young People).
- Using Centrepay, a service provided by Centrelink.
Families who are supported through the Student Assistance Scheme (STAS) do not need to pay levies. Applications for the Student Assistance Scheme may be made online, or paper forms can be provided at the school office.
Late arrivals
If your child arrives at school after 8:50am unaccompanied by a parent/guardian, the office will be marking attendance as unexplained other. The procedure for late arrivals will be as is for unexplained absences in that office staff will be calling the parent/guardian to clarify the reason the student was late arriving to school.
A reminder that if your child is absent from school for any reason that you notify the school office by 9:30 am of that day. You can either contact the school office on 6272 9100 or email goodwood.primary@decyp.tas.gov.au
Did you know if your child has 10 days off school per year, that by Grade 4 they are 1 year behind?
The best thing for your child's future is to come to school every day.
Student Medication
Please advise office staff and your child’s class teacher if your child needs to take medication during school hours so arrangements can be made for the medication to be administered.
It is a Department of Education requirement that the following forms must be completed and signed before the commencement of dispensing medication to students: ‘Administration of Routine Medication Authorisation Form for Parent/ Guardian’; and ‘Administration of Prescribed Medication Authorisation Form for Doctors’. The administration of medication to students is undertaken by Admin staff who will ensure it is taken correctly, details (e.g. date, time, dose etc) entered on the student’s personal medication sheet, and signed by a staff member and witness.
Medication is kept locked in the school safe or safe room. Students should not have any types of medication in their school bags.
Prep/1 and 1/2 were lucky enough to attend one week of Learn to Swim last week at the Friends Pool. They had such an amazing time, learning new skills, conquering small fears of the water and building their confidence each day around water safety.

Staff Carpark & Student drop/pick-up area
REMINDER
Our carpark has become quite congested due to increased staff at both Goodwood Primary School and Tas eSchool. We are again asking parents/carers to not enter the staff carpark when dropping off and collecting students. The carpark is for school staff of Goodwood Primary School and Tas eSchool and can be dangerous for students. The exception is for those parents whose child/children have a disabled parking permit.
To ensure the safety of our students and staff please follow the information below:
Students are to be dropped off and collected via the Elmsleigh Road carpark.
We thank you in advance for keeping our students safe!
At our Meet and Greet Assemblies we celebrate the students who have been caught following our Goodwood Primary School Values. If an adult or student observes someone doing something that is Safe, Caring or shows that they are Learning they fill out a Positive Detective slip. The student is shown the slip as immediate feedback and positive reinforcement. The slip is then placed into a big bucket and we draw names out of the bucket like a raffle and then whoever gets drawn out wins a small prize.

Support your child’s online learning at home
Digital skills are critical to every child’s success, but supporting online learning can be overwhelming.
The Digital skills for families team are delivering a program to help Tasmanian families support online learning at home. Spending time online at home gives children an opportunity to practice what they are learning at school. Positive home environments help children develop the skills and independence they need to succeed in a digital future.
